Nha Trang at a glance
Nha Trang lies in Khanh Hoa province on Vietnam's south-central coast. The city beach and the islands in the bay are two different kinds of trip. The city has the promenade, the restaurants and the hotels. The islands need a boat and have their own rules and fees.
Cam Ranh International Airport is about 30 km (19 miles) south of the city. The drier months run from January to August, and the rainy season from September to December. This is an independent guide. It is not the website of a city office, a park, a hot spring or a tour operator, and it has no link to any of them.

What to know for a 2026 trip
Four points where older guides can be wrong.
Cable car pause
The cable car to VinWonders on Hon Tre is announced to stop from 26 October to 10 November 2026 for maintenance. Check the current notice before you plan a day at the park.
VinWonders guide โHon Mun is not a swimming stop
A ministry report of 20 May 2026 still describes swimming and diving in the strictly protected Hon Mun zone as suspended, to let the coral recover. A boat tour with Hon Mun in its name does not mean you may enter the water there.
Islands and snorkeling โBay visit fee
Since 25 August 2025 a fee applies for visiting the islands of the bay, from VND 6,000 to VND 10,000 per person and island. It is separate from the price of a boat tour.
Entry rules
German and Swiss citizens can visit for tourism up to 45 days without a visa, under rules running to 14 March 2028 and 14 August 2028. Austrian and US citizens need a visa before the trip. Rules change, so check with your foreign ministry before you book.

Visitors pay in Vietnamese dong (VND). Many hotels, restaurants and spas take international cards, but not every seller does, so keep some cash for small stalls. Hotel addresses may still show old district names, because Nha Trang was reorganized into new administrative units in 2025. Use the name of the place you are going to, not the district.

Other places in Vietnam, covered in their own guides.
If you have more time in Vietnam, Hoi An further north on the central coast is known for its old town. For a bigger island with its own beaches, see Phu Quoc in the south-west. In the north, Ha Long Bay is the place for limestone islands and cruises.

Nha Trang: frequently asked questions
When is the best time to visit Nha Trang?
The national tourism authority names January to August as the drier phase and September to December as the rainy season. Long-term averages show the most rain in November, with October and December also wet. Weather is never guaranteed, so keep a day free.
How far is Cam Ranh Airport from the city?
About 30 km (19 miles) to the south. The airport lists a bus at VND 50,000 and taxis from VND 300,000 as reference prices. Read the airport page for the details.
Do I need a visa for Nha Trang?
It depends on your passport. German and Swiss citizens can stay up to 45 days for tourism without a visa under current rules. Austrian and US citizens need a visa, and an e-visa for up to 90 days costs USD 25 for one entry or USD 50 for multiple entries. Check the rules before you travel.
Can I snorkel at Hon Mun?
Not in the strictly protected zone. A ministry report of 20 May 2026 says swimming and diving there remain suspended. Ask your operator exactly where in the bay you may enter the water. More on the islands page.
Is there one ticket for all attractions?
No. Park entry, mud baths, boats and the bay fee are separate products with separate prices. The cost table above shows the main ones for 2026.
Is visitnhatrang.org an official tourism site?
No. This is an independent travel guide with no link to the authorities of Khanh Hoa, VinWonders, any hot spring, boat or tour operator.
